Characteristics of the water:
Physical characteristics:
Water is made available by the natural hydraulic cycle of the atmospheric-oceanic-terrestrial system. In most forms, water is a renewable resource since its continued flows are not affected by withdrawals or use. However, not all natural waters are renewable and renewable water can become non-renewable by human actions such as contamination, watershed modification, or extraction in excess of inflow rate. Water is a vital resource for human and other animal and plant health.
Economic Characteristics:
Water is used in economic activities and hence must be allocated among competing uses, the commercial needs fir water resources complicate matters, since water is a difficult to measure and identify water flows, evaporates, seeps and is transpired.
Social characteristics:
It is commonly accepted that access to water is a basic human right. Moreover, it is argued that water is a social good in that the widespread availability of clean and affordable water improves both individual and social well-being. Clean water reduces the prevalence of water-related diseases, a social benefit shared by all users of the same water source.
Political characteristics:
In addition, water is not evenly distributed throughout the world, and there are great variations in natural abundance. For example, mountain areas produce 80 percent of global water resources yet they have less than 10 percent of the global population. Agreements were common among nations that shared a watershed, such as the U.S and Mexico.
Kinds of water:
There are two kinds of water: water that are naturally ready for consumption and waters requiring further processing into drinking water. The natural waters can be subdivided into natural mineral water and spring water. Tap water, soda and aerated water, table water and water cooler belong to the category of processed waters.
Uses of the water:
The uses of water are many, from drinking and cleaning, to irrigating crops and landscapes. Water is used for cooling, for recreation and dust control. Water is needed for restaurants, must industrial processes, and even some religious ceremonies. On another evel, the splash and flow of water in streams and fountain soothes and inspires. In one way or another, water is a part of almost everything humans make and do.
Percentaje of the water:
In a typical usage, water refers only to its liquid from or state, but the substance also has a solid state, ice and a gaseous state, water vapor or steam. Water covers 71% of the earth surface. On earth, it is found mostly in oceans and other large water bodies with 1.6% of water below ground in aquifers and 0.001% in the air as vapor, clouds and precipitacions. Oceans hold 97% of surface water, glaciers and polar ice caps 2.4% and other land surface water such as rivers, lakes and ponds 0.6%.
The regions in colombia in which the water is unhealthy:
The regions in which the water is unhealthy are in the andean region, norte de santander and the atlantic coast because the ombudsman noted that in the coming years will increase demand for water for human and economic uses, and how serious is that the supply of usable resource can be reduced if current trends continue, deforestation and the near absence of treatment wastewater.
